Sofia has slowly but steadily been transforming into a foodie destination in the last couple of years with its fine-dining restaurants, small local artisanal shops, an ever expanding and award-winning wine industry, a booming craft beer movement, specialty coffee shops, bar scene, and excellent street food spots hidden across the city.
There has always been one thing missing in Sofia however - a proper street food festival to combine all of those delicious goodies in one place. Until now. Bacchus magazine has taken upon the task of gathering a selection of the best food Bulgaria has to offer and is organising the first gourmet StrEAT Festival in Bulgaria.
Expected to attract thousands of food lovers from all corners of the country, the oldest and biggest open-air food market in the capital - Zhenski Pazar (or Women’s market) will turn into a foodie paradise with 40 exhibitors and chefs arriving to showcase some of the finest food in Bulgaria.
The one day event will take place on the 30th September with various eats served at the ticket entry-only party by 10 guest chefs along with boutique wineries, craft breweries, a variety of farmers, and small-scale producers of gourmet products, sweets, unique cocktails, and a live jazz orchestra playing all day long.
The StrEAT Festival will include a spectrum of activities including cooking workshops, tastings, entertainment, special kid zone, and will conclude with a party on the second floor of the market with a guest DJ who will keep up the good mood.
Everyone is welcome to join and spend a fun autumn day in the company of tasty food, delicious drinks, interesting products and fun music.
